上週到Time Warner Center，因為貓要買菜，兔要吃Bouchon Bakery的餅乾。

進門就看到他們的大型許願星星懸吊在挑高的大廳(註一)，所有的星星配合音樂變化顏色。

             Hark how the bells, 
             sweet silver bells, 
             all seem to say, 
             throw cares away


貓: 那不是個廣告曲嗎? (註二)

Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold, 



兔: (有智慧的說) 是嗎?這是Carol of the Bells, 是聖誕歌曲!

              Ding dong ding dong
that is their song
with joyful ring
all caroling



貓: (馬上進入幻想狀態) 我喜歡這個編曲，聽起來超級適合Coen Brothers的電影，開場從遠鏡頭，星星一閃一閃，逐漸推進後不是有個屍體卡在星星裡，就是星星從天花板會墜下來匝在某個電影才開場就得退場的傢伙身上....
One seems to hear
words of good cheer
from everywhere

兔: (一如往常的甜美微笑) 
Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,



貓: (繼續一邊想像Cohen Brothers的運鏡...) 你說這部片該找誰演比較好?
Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,



(當晚的對話就此纏繞在該找誰演, 以及主角配角該怎麼死, storyline該怎麼走...不過是一部不存在的Coen電影)

             On on they send,
on without end,
their joyful tone

Ding dong ding ding... dong!



註一: 這是Holiday Image的公司網站。進入網站後按左下角的music on/off可聽音樂(但是不是我喜歡的版本)，按Audio/Video Link可以看到NY1對Time Warner Center許願星星的報導。照片是上星期補拍的，因為是白天，詭譎氣氛消失。
註二: Carol of the Bells是烏克蘭民歌改編的。是難得的小調聖誕歌曲，garmin.com是一家做車上GPS導航系統的公司，最近在電視廣告中用Carol of the Bells做背景音樂。
註三: Coen Brothers: Joel & Ethan Coen. 我很喜歡的一對美國兄弟導演, 他們的作品有Fargo跟Barton Fink等等。最近的作品是No Country for Old Men。貓很想看。
